An important Buddhist Festival Celebration of the full moon day of the third Lunar Month.
The community comes to offer breakfast and lunch to the monks. After the food offering, the monks preach (Tessa) for one hour.

NEW YEAR DAY OF LUNAR CALENDER
The Lunar New Year is an important annual celebration for the Khmer people that recognizes our cultural heritage.
First of the Lunar Year: Welcome Tevada Chnam Thmay. The Monks participate in chanting, blessing, and more.
Second day: We welcome guests, who bring offerings to the monks. Monks participate in chanting and blessing. Traditional games, dance, and activities take place.
Third day: We welcome guests, who bring offerings to the monks. The monks perform memorial services, giving blessing to passed-away ancestors. Guests play music, participate in karaoke, and more.

THE VASSA SEASON (the three-month rainy season)
The most important event in Buddhism is the Vassa Season, a three-month annual retreat observed by Buddha practitioners. It has been strictly observed by Buddhist Monks since the lifetime of the Buddha and it still prevails. Monks must stay 24/7 at the temple for the three-month term.

PHKA SAMAKI & PUTHHEA CEROMONY
Frist day event: (Flower Festival) A whole day event, activities include bringing food offerings to the monks and gathering lay Buddhist, the hosting of Buddhist flag, taking the five precepts, declaration of celebration, and offering MATHUPAYA to the new statue of the Buddha.
Second day event: Activities include taking the five precepts, putting alms into alms bowls, offering food to the monks, offering the United Flowers to the monks, and giving sermons.

PUN PCHUM BUN CEREMONY
First day: Guests bring food to the monks for breakfast and lunch, offering rice to the monks’ bowls. This is arranged by Buddhist members. After lunch, the monks will chant and preach.
Second day: This ceremony is an important event as our ancestors have practiced it and passed it on from century to century. We are honored to carry it on and preserve our longstanding culture. In this ceremony, we show dedication and munificence our ancestors and friends who passed away.

DONTA (PUN PCHUM BUN CEREMONY)
On the most important day of Bun Pchum Bun festival, members must come to the Pagoda to pray to reach the souls of their ancestors by virtue of the monks’ sermons.
This ceremony is an important event as our ancestors have practiced it and passed it on from century to century. We are honored to carry it on and preserve our longstanding culture.
We cordially invite all members and their families to participate in this ceremony to show dedication and munificence, and to share the goodness of our ancestors and friends who passed away.

KATHINA CEREMONY
According to the Buddhist scripture, after completing three months of the fasting practice to annually fulfill their Vessa obligatory duties, the Buddhist followers would offer essential needs such as uniform robes, alms bowls, and more to the monks as permitted.
The Buddhist congregation has a duty to organize the Kathina Ceremony for the followers who desire to practice and benefit from Buddhism.
On behalf of the Watt Kampuchea Krom, a Khmer Buddhist Temple, we cordially invite all members, families, and friends to join us in celebrating the annual Kathina Ceremony at our Temple.

This ceremony is named for its purpose, which is to predict the rain fall of the following year, traditionally held during the full moon of the month of November (on the 21,22, 23).
Cordially, we welcome members and their families to celebrate the Bun AAk AAm Buk ceremony to the great honor of our temple and community.
Fruits and Banana, mangos, taros, potatoes, Am Buk, coconuts, soft drinks, and teas will be served.

Monthly activity of Watt Kampuchea Krom in 2019
We have programs which allow our monks to visit patients in the hospital and visit the elderly in senior living facilities.
The monks preach, chant, and bless the patients and the elderly individuals they visit.
We stay in communication with the City of San Jose to understand how our congregation can help the larger society.
